Still, I like your suggestion, and it could be utilized online, eliminating this risk. I'll have to think on it. Thanks again! |

Great pictures as always. I was kind-of looking forward to your Dio story BUT I know how much of a pain it can be doing one.
I started mine in March 2008, and have only done 12 episodes. In that time I've had another child and moved house! Procrastination rules!! There is always the option of not using work balloons... Also a book would be cool..

Monte, I think everyone realizes that you are a very talented photographer with an uncanny knack for kitbashes. So many of us enjoy and love your Geek Creek postings, but for me (and I suspect for others) there is something more than just the amazing photos of great kitbashes. Your accompanying writings create a flowing narrative that makes your posts so enjoyable to read. I had always thought, "Wow, Monte is such a thoughtful and gracious guy in all of his posts," which is true, but while reading this particular post it dawned on me:
You are a writer. I'm absolutely convinced. You immediately sucked me into an absurd GI Joe/time traveller/Wizard of Oz mash-up story. The dialogue and writing is terrific. Unbelievable. I don't know where your long-term interests lie, but I truly believe you could have a wildly successful career in writing. Congratulations, you are a multi-talented creative artist; and it hardly seems fair to the rest of us.

dr. bindy said it best, that style would totally suit you. your photographs take toys and turn them into art. your writing is an art form in itself. seeing the pics with with the comic bubbles detracts from both.

You guys are overwhelming. Thanks so much for the kind words!
Conway, writing is indeed my first passion. As noted earlier, I spent many years struggling with a novel, and along the way I wrote many, many frivolous and pretentious essays about popular culture. More recently, I have suspected I have perhaps ran out of things to say, which isn't alarming, as I'd have expected. If anything, it's a peaceful feeling. If nothing else, I am grateful I am usually able to communicate clearly. As a teacher, and more so simply as someone who studies what passes for discourse these days and shudders, I'm pleased that my long-abandoned goal to be a writer has at least served to leave me capable of expressing myself in writing. Also, I love this: Thanks again, guys. You're all so (too) kind. Last edited by Monte Williams; 07-25-2014 at 06:03 PM.. |
