I've been customizing for a long time and I've found dying figures to be a total waste of time and effort.
Seriously, I don't get it. It's unpredictable, won't adhere to some surfaces, messy, troublesome, comes in a severely limited palette...just water down some model master acryl or citadel paints. I have never made a figure that has joint rub or clumpy paint as someone earlier mentioned...the paints I use bond to plastic, and if for some reason you have a joint that is particularly tight and rubs, then just hit it with a little sandpaper for 2 seconds. I know some people dye, but I really just don't get it. My experiences with dye seemed to be far inferior to good paints. Can someone explain what the benefits of going through the trouble of dying are? I can't see any at all.... |

You are not alone I myself did a figure that way. Had plans on going back and painting various part but I liked the dye look. The only thing was after touching that figure it leaves dye on your hands so I had to wipe it down.
