I did the same thing with my Firefly too. I like how it looks. I agree about the head, but I'm happy with what we have though. I did the same thing with Serpentor except I modded the comic pack DTC Serpentor's head to fit.

Another collector suggested I use a kinetic energy device (smaller hammer) and a flat head screwdriver with a fine edge (I used a fine-edged carving chisel instead) and it worked fine.
Put the figures on a small block of wood, legs/feet facing down, and rotate the upper torso. Place the screwdriver/chisel on the seam as close as you can to the armpit area (you may need someone to strike the driver with the hammer while you hold it). If it doesn't separate right away, bop it a bit harder. Once you have some separation, use the driver (or a precision screwdriver) to pry the two halves apart. I'm sure there are other workable methods, but this is what I tried. Oh helllz no, that sounds like world's of pain if you slip, wrap a rag around torso to protect it from the vise jaws your gonna use. I have an old sock I've been using it works great. completely wrap the rag over his arms and torso, place into a vise sideways so that one shoulder each is up againts the vise jaw. Slowly close vise keeping the body secure in place. Continue until it pops open. Pop! Just like that no stabbing yourself if you slip haha. |
