OK a lot more work then I was anticipating but the paint is finally dry enough to picture. Still needs a little longer to dry but got impatient.
Unlike the real one my boat actually floats and does it with ease. I also like my roll bar gun better then the original. Now for the bad. The boat does not launch on its own like the original and I did not put a lever to pop out the depth charge. Did not think the launching depth charge (it is removable but does not pop out on its own) was that important compared to the eye appeal that would be lost in adding that lever. Still very heavy nod to the original but also very GI Joe cross over friendly. |

This is by far, the best 1/18 M.A.S.K homage i have ever seen. This is real clean, and seems to fit perfectly. I am impressed!

pretty cool...looks like you carved some of the parts? Is it wood? Or is that just the paint?

Hopefully SOMEONE from Hasbro will see this can actually be done...

Thank you for restoring a lost piece of my childhood. I totally forgot owning the original. That is an incredible custom. Imagine how awesome a 3 3/4" 25th style MASK line could have been.

Thanks all for the props. The next one I make will be easier now that I know exactly where and how much to cut. This one was really just learn as I go. The next one is going to be a total cross over sporting both MASK and GI Joe lables. Using the Devilfish labels for the boat and Vamp labels for the jeep.

It fits perfect because it is the insides of Vamp cut out. It is not as clean as I would have liked it does have several imperfections but it may be that I am more sensitive to them since I have been fretting over them. It is all plastic. It is made out of the Vamp with no other vehicles involved, and styrene sheets. The putty I used in the front corners did not sand as easy as I would have liked and with it being down in those deep corners it was hard to get to anyway, so I sanded and sanded but it still did not get as smooth as I would have liked. The camera makes it look even worse plus on the picture of the exhaust side I think the gloss finish is reflecting some tree leaves from above it which makes it look like it is even rougher then it is. |
