Hi everyone! I'm a longtime reader of these forums, but this is my very first post.
I live in an area of Pennsylvania that hasn't really seen much of anything in the way of figures or vehicles from G.I. Joe Retaliation. Apparently it's not very high on the list of "gotta have" collectibles around here. That's why I was so excited to find a lone blue-uniformed Cobra Commander among the five Battle Kata Roadblock figures at my local Walmart. I've seen from the various reviews and comments that this is a version of CC that people either absolutely love or loathe. But I, for one, like him. He's a hybrid of the movie CC and a throwback to the Sunbow version that received a nice modern update. One of the biggest gripes that most collectors have is the fact that he is supposed to be the defacto movie CC, yet he is lacking his trademark black duster jacket. I was up in my attic a few days ago and came across my old Iron Man 2 boxed set that included three Hammer drones and Nick Fury. Fury's jacket was the perfect solution to completing CC's movie look...at least somewhat. The jacket itself is unique because its actually made out of some sort of thin pleather material instead of the shiny cloth material that most Star Wars Jedi robes or battle cloaks that come with Hasbro figures. The result is about 90% movie accurate. In the movie, CC's jacket doesn't have a split up the back of it, but I can overlook that... I realize that this custom isn't nearly as labor-intensive as most that I've seen on here, but I thought the end result was so cool that I had to share. Thanks!
I forgot to add that I also switched his hands with the posable-wrist versions from my Snake Eyes figure, to give him a fuller range of movement. |
