I think this would be a great figure for the basic figure assortment that is sold at DG. It could be done with very little paint apps just mold the torso in tan and the legs in green. The only paint apps required would be to paint the head and fore arms , paint the lower torso(pants) to match the legs and paint the boots black. Then add the bandolier, helmet and m16 and he's done.

Makes me remember that duke was always one of my favorite figures.
Untill Hasbro put out so many different duke heads. That poc head is duke 100%. Your version is perfect. Like you said, its duke. But a damn good duke!
