I'd go with the beams. They wouldn't need to be that big or that many. Depending on what you make the hanging thing from, you could get away with just one beam.

My step-dad built a Styrofoam cutter. He ran a current through a medium gauge guitar string that he set up with a transformer and a rheostat. You turned it on and the string would heat up and slice through slabs of foam like butter.
We played with it all the time and you could do some very intricate carving with it. |

You can try using a hot knife and a ruler. Just be very careful and use a mask. That shit stinks.
Try using Extruded Polystyrene (pink insulation foam) from Home Depot. That stuff is very dense and if you cut half of it with an xacto knife, you can usually snap the rest of it off. They sell it in all sizes from 1/4 inch to 2 inch. And pretty cheap, too. |

I would love to do something like that.
However I'm a bumble fumpkins and would burn down my apartment I would throw myself on my GI Joe collection and we would melt together. Well, first I will try to get out. Then, If I can't get out, I'd try to put the fire out. Then if I couldn't get the fire out, I would throw myself on my GI Joe collection and melt to death on them. |
