thanks to a tanker, i have an armadillo now for this next custom project.
this one is a bit of a pain to take apart. be very careful seperating the top turret from the turret base. there are 2 tabs that are very easy to break, i snapped one off. i'm being proactive with this thread, starting it off early. another note, the turret base is much more brittle plastic than the main body. it will be interesting to see how it paint reacts to it.

i'll do my best to get the burgandy base coat on with my sons help this weekend. painting is really minimal on this project so hopefully it will move quickly.
3 parts burgandy base coat -main body shell -top turret shell -bottom turret base 1 part yellow -main guns 1 part flat black -rear grab bar 2 parts tinted red -pair of clear headlights 5 parts unpainted -front engine cover -left and right track piece -front and back rollers i'll have trim to paint on the track pieces, rear step pad on the main body etc. but overall, i'm expecting this one to be much easier. ofcourse i've just jinx'ed myself. i thought to leave the front engine cover alone as the python patrol grid will have a silver highlight running across this area which i anticipate will blend in well with the stock cover vs. maybe a dark flat black shape in the middle of the highlighted grid.

despite being small and rather geometric, these surfaces are proving tricky to mask. i guess i was just over confident after the last two. i spent about an hour while watching house tonight putting on a good deal of the grid.
it's not easy getting the lines to remain orthagonal when changing from vertical to horizontal and back to vertical surfaces.

This may be a stupid question and if it's been discussed before I never saw it. Before taping off your pattern do you have to go insane cutting all those tiny strips of tape or can you buy it in rolls that small?
