Tired of being out gunned and out positioned by the Joes Tactical Battle Platforms and by vehicles like The General, Rolling Thunder, and the Mobile Command Centre. Cobra decided to steal the idea of the R.T. and the T.B.P and build a mobile nuclear launch base.
This vehicle allows Cobra to change the location of their nukes, so the Joe team never knows where they are. The King Cobra is very heavily armed so it can repel any kind of air strike against it. Each base also has it's own Snake Bite helicopter. The helicopter is used to fly ahead and scout for the best location to set up the base. With its small size and extreme fire power it is also brings great air defence. The King Cobra is not meant as a ground assault vehicle it's slow moving and can get high centered if the operator is not careful. The King Cobra has allowed Cobra to force the Joes into retreat on several occasions. I wanted to give Cobra a Mobile base, and I wanted to do a custom Tactical Battle Platform, and Rolling Thunder so I thought why not merge the two? I thought by not painting some of the parts it would give it that production look and feel. The treads, cannons missiles, both small and large are not painted. Only the tips and boosters and cluster bombs of the large white missiles are painted. I used small bolts to hinge the smaller pads to the RT through the existing holes for the chair guns.. This allows then to turn inward for vehicle mode and outward for battle station mode. The red support posts I also left alone. My thought is those would be added by Vipers when the King Cobra was left in station mode for longer periods of time. I forgot to show that the cannons can be switched out for two cranes from the TBP. Will add more pictures of that later. Always loved the Locust Helicopter. I thought it was the perfect choice for the King Cobra it fits nicely on the back and the blades clear the missiles and cannon perfectly. Painted it black and smoke tinted all the glass in both vehicles. I love this thing it's an absolute beast. The name King Cobra comes from the first Sherman tank to reach American troops defending Bastogne from German troops. They called it COBRA KING. I just switched it around. I love it! Did you have to modify the holes for the Platform weapons on the Thunder?

I cut the tabs off the bottoms off the small pads so they were flat. Them I laid them out how I wanted and drilled a hole through the top of the pad and used small bolts to make them move in and out. Didn't have to modify anything else. Works perfect.

Dude, well done! I can't believe the ambition of this project, and it turned out fantastic. Can only imagine how nostalgic is must have been to take this behemoth toy to the backyard, and set up all those Vipers to really make it come alive. Well done man.
