Since seeing the 1st Modern Era production of Psyche Out by the Collectors Club in Night Force colors, many of us have been interested in seeing the figure released in his original colors as well. To help fill that void in my collection, I Frankenjoed this custom in those original colors.
I have included a comparison photo of my custom and the GIJCC Night Force figure. Click the photos for a larger view. |

I was hesitant to pull out the forearms, so that's why I used a PoC Duke torso and waist with the full arms for mine.
The Retaliation Duke body is okay for a Psyche-Out custom, but IMO, looks a bit too skinny. Did you use RoC Moblie PIT Headquarters General Hawk's legs?

I am so ready to just put one of those heads on that POC duke body I have an extra of it... I wish I could paint heads.

At first thought, I considered the Retaliation Duke torso might be too skinny as well but, once I added the thicker, longer legs, as opposed to the factory legs, the figure looks better proportioned and not so overly skinny. I didn't like the use of the POC Duke torso used by the Club because I needed long sleeves where that torso had short ones and I didn't like how the head sits forward on the neck. I also thought the Retaliation Duke torso armor is much more like the original figure's chest armor than armor on the POC Duke. Another reason for choosing the Retaliation Duke over the POC version is because the color is similar to the color of the original vintage figure- which meant it was unnecessary to paint.
While the figure is skinny at the waist overall it stands taller and looks larger than the Club's Night Force figure. I wanted this figure to be closer to the original than what the Club made and all of the parts I used (with the exception of the head and accessories) are different. The legs are not from an ROC Hawk. Those came from an ROC Footloose and they are wider at the thigh and lower leg than Hawk's. Several of the ROC figures use the thicker legs like the ones used on Footloose while many others use the same mold as Hawks. |

Oh no. Psyche-Out is not skinny. Did you see the panel in this one issue of Special Missions where he and two others(one was Falcon, can't remember the other) are changing into their disguises? He was shirtless, and I know it's a cartoon, but HAWT DAMN! He was stacked. Not Roadblock or Heavy Duty stacked, but still, he had muscle on him.

That's great - really nice job.
I really liked that torso mold for the Retaliation Alley Viper too - looks good on just about everything but that Duke. |

How did you use different forearms? Did you pull them out of another figure?
I think you'd been better off using the RoC Mobile PIT Headquarters General Hawk's legs since they're thinner. They'd probably be in more proportion to the torso and waist.

^^ The arms are from the Scrap Iron figure in the extreme conditions Arctic pack. I choose them because the color matches that of Psyches Out's so, it meant no painting and no paint rub in the joints.
LOL. I agree. The torso has a lot of potential but, that Duke is terrible. |
