Having learned some lessons with my python patrol vamp, i ambitiously jumped into making a python patrol sky hawk. techincally, it's made from a ghost hawk.
as usual, i upload all my pictures to this gallery i was surprised to find the ghost hawk was very simple to disassemble. there was a couple screws that basically held the body shell together which in turn held all the other pieces together. the body parts were given a base coat of kyrlon fusion satin burgandy. lesson 1. start with a thinner mask strip. this will make the patter look tighter. i duplicated the pp x-30 grid on the vamp and it turned out to be out of scale for the vehicle size. for this vehicle, i scaled down the pattern a bit. this took a good 4 in total hours to complete.

i decided to reduce the amount of grid and limit it to the main cabin and main rear tail stabilizers
here is the grid mask on the rear stabilizers

Sweet, great job buddy. Can't wait to see more of it! Are you going to paint the missiles and chin guns yellow like all PP vehicles? Do you mask off with masking tape and then cut the patterns out for the PP camo? I think a PP Mobat would look awesome too & a vintage APC done in PP colors.

everything is painted. as there are several layers in some cases, i really need to let these dry for the full week before playing with them.
i use tamiya mask tape, 13mm rolls. i place a 6 inch strip on a cutting board and use a metal straight edge to slice thin strips, 6" long. i then place each strip on the body. i like to alternate directions as i found its much easier to keep the grid orthagonal this way vs. going all one direction, then doing the other like i did with the vamp. yes, a pp mobat is in the works;) just waiting on a box to arrive with a couple more vehicles. the tanks has a great bunch of people that really gave me good deals on trades/sales. oh, the burgandy ghost hawk looks good ;) already thinking crimson guard sky hawk.
