I've been trying to collect the original 82 line since the 25th Anniversary line began. Up till November, I had the all except the last two figures: Short-Fuze and Zap.
I was kind of dismayed when I found that Short-Fuze was released as part of the Ultimate Battle Pack. Since I pretty much had all the figures that set contained, I didn't want to part with $80 at Target for only one figure. I was hoping they'd release him on single card, but with the line being pushed back to make way for the upcoming movie figures? I figured the only way I'd get a Short-Fuze without shelling out big bucks was to customize one. So I visited YoJoe.com to get a look at what the figure looked like, and here's what I came up with: I used a Grunt body as the base (I had a spare), the bottom legs of Clutch (Another spare), a mortar from a CORPS figure I bought at Wal-Mart, and the head came from Duke. Had to use Duke as I don't have a Doc figure to spare. To make the glasses? I shaved down Duke's brow to give the glasses a better fit. Then taking a lightsaber from a Star Wars figure, I cut a small sliver using an exacto knife; it gave me the perfect roundness. I then glued the glasses onto the head using super glue. Afterwards, I used the pic from YoJoe.com as a reference to paint up his belts and webbing using acrylic paint, Testors silver for the buckles and glasses. Altogether? He cost me $11 (cost of paints and the CORPs figure I bought for the mortar) and I'm pretty well pleased with how it came out. Now, if I can't land a Zap? I'm already checking out the pic that was posted seeing how I can re-create it lol |

I spent about $11 shipped on my Zap, and minus the work involved, he looks pretty much like that one. Haha.
Good job making your own. |

Looks pretty good. If anything i would sand down the lenses on the glasses so they arent so thick. I did see some on ebay selling just the figure by its self.
Overall good job thou. |

Great job on your custom. There have been some Short Fuze figures selling on eBay for pretty cheap, but I think there's something to be said for doing it yourself. Also, I think I like your head better than the Doc repaint. Good work.

Looks just as good (if not better) than the official figure from Hasbro. Nice work!
