Actually, the hair is the problem...Rick's hair is not realistic. Plus, if you sculpt a new one, there's no way you could put a helmet on it.
To be honest, maybe some female head would work in manga custom, because of the "delicate" features they usually have. I think that T-D785 works fine, it is a realistic approach. The problem is that we recognize easily a Luke's head (but he's a skilled pilot too so...) |

Nicely done! I really wish they'd bring Robotech back in that scale.

Last I heard, Spiderman actor Toby Maguire's own production company (which I forgot the name of), has the rights to do a live-action movie version to Robotech. Since Toby was born in 1975, there's a better chance the movie will look closer to it's original series counterpart. (Unlike say, the live-action versions of TransFormers and the upcoming G.I.Joe, which are done by people who did not grow up with them.)

I love Robotech, that is a very nice custom. Now all we need is a toy company to remake the Line into a modern rendition and all would be right with the world.

Cool Hikaru Ichijyo! (Yeah, I'm one of those Macross guys. ;) ) It's a pretty good translation of him, into plastic form.
Pity that accurate hair is impossible to do, without doing swapable heads. (Or swapable head/hair) |

Sorry, but that looks nothing like Fred Dryer, & I never heard of any Hunter/Robotech crossovers.
