Iceberg is not a badly designed figure and I like it much more now than I did initially. I was disappointed and taken aback by how it was overwhelmingly disproportionate. The figure looked more '80's o-ring than 25th styled.
For an easy fix, I added the skirt/ jacket tail from the ROC Frostbite (Frostbite, Arctic Snake Eyes and Iceberg share the same torso, so the skirt sizing is an exact fit). The added width of the skirt lessens the relative sizing difference between the shoulders and the waist and hides the overly narrow upper thighs helping to make the figure better proportioned overall. Iceberg arrived just earlier today so, I have not had an opportunity to mix a paint to match the skirt to the torso but, that will be the next step in the project. ************************************************** ***************************************** Updated 5/19 To match the white skirt to the existing color of Iceberg's torso, I had to mix a custom color. I used Testors enamel Flat Beret Green, Flat Blue and Flat White. I prefer enamels as they provide a durable finish on plastic. If painting rubber rather than plastic- as with the case of this skirt material be sure to use a non-enamel primer. ************************************************** ***************************************** Updated 5/26 To finish painting the skirt required mixing another color to match the existing dark green on the figure. I used the Flat Beret Green again and lightened it using Flat White. I intended to paint the belt with the dark green and the buckle with silver but, a fellow Tanker suggested the belt should be white with a dark green buckle. I agree with his suggestion and after reviewing the original Iceberg, it seems even more appropriate. I may later swap out the stock legs for another pair but, I am considering the project finished with the completion of the painting. This was meant to only be an easy fix and not a radical departure from the Club design. Last edited by Superjoe74; 05-27-2013 at 11:31 AM.. |

Looks perfect now. Great work and thanks for teaching us how to fix this guy. Why did the club not think of this?

I was thinking about those legs as soon as the iceberg pics were posted. Would love to see that pic. My iceberg hasn't shown up yet.

IMAG0259 by bharrisfan, on Flickr the inner peg needs to be shaved down slightly to get a more flush fit but i like the baggier pant look vs the ridiculous skin tight uppers (i mean they worked perfect for spirit but obviously not here) now i just need to find that frostbite figure to get that skirt. then i'll ditch the holster. for the skirt i dont even think paint is required it looks like it matches the fur color. i might also cut off the two side fur shoulder covering parts and just keep the collar part. |
