We all know Hasbro loves to reuse parts to make other figures or repaints, so why don't they use the same style knee joints(example: Scarlett's knees are totally different from I think everyone else and some have bigger pins to hold knees in to upper legs than others), elbow joints (example: Cobra Officer's elbow joint is very small in length & diameter compared to Mutt's), neck balls(some are short and some are longggggggggggggg) and neck ball holes in the heads(some are deep, some shallow, some narrow, some wide)? These make for a pain in the butt when making customs sometimes! While working on my next custom figure (Cobra K-9 Officer), I had to dremel the upper arm hole for the elbow joint to fit Mutt's elbow/lower arm. Mutt's upper leg/knee pins are alot bigger than the Cobra Officer's also but Gung-Ho's will work for what I need. I'm just surprised(kind of) that Hasbro would use so many different sized small parts when they love to reuse/repaint so much.

I agree with you on the neck and heads big time! I have wanted to put a Snake Eyes head on Quick Kick, but I just can't get it right.
I would also like to have another Wild Bill with a right sized head. Everything else was perfect, he just needs a little bigger head. I think Destro is also the only figure other than Cobra Commander who could use an oversized head! I mean since they are both wearing helmets of a sort... Isn't it only logical that they have big heads? I'm not complaining! I realy like the Chromed Destro Head with green eyes! It is sooooo cool! BUT I think the 1983 version had a better scaled head. Anybody with me?

He has to have the smallest head out of all of them! Got the TRU SRO version for custom parts and couldn't believe how small his head is.

It could be worse. For the most part, the Joe figures can have their heads swapped. Every Star Wars action figure has a unique ball joint for the neck and head. You can't swap them at all.

I remember the fun I had, trying to put Cobra Commander lower arms, on a Duke torso. The CC lowers wouldn't fit right in the Duke upper arms, and the CC shoulder lugs are an oddball size, the CC upper arms wouldn't fit teh Duke torso. I eventually ended up using Cobra trooper upper arms, with the CC lowers, and I still had to file down the shoulder lugs a bit, to get them to work in the Duke torso.
Never was able to do that swap I wanted to do between Duke thighs, and Zartan lower legs. |

I noticed that with the new marvel figs that I saw at wondercon.
It would be so easier if Hasbro had a "standard" between all 3 lines. |

I have been screaming this for 8 years now. That's what made customizing ARAH so great. I could mix a '93 with a '86 no problem. It just seems easier and smarter if they did this

Not to disagree but i like the different size stuff, makes for customizing to be a bit more of a challenge almost a personal test of your skills. This gives ya the chance to improve, and master the arts of the vets in our hobby.
When they do tooling on a new part its bound to be different, unless all figures are made off of one body style. This could be done, but we in the hobby would have to do it our selves. |
