This started out as a SW Barc Speeder. A few mods later it was a swamp skier. The back skis were the front skis on a Cobra Ice Snake. I heavily modified them to work on this.

I can see using some wilder colors, I actually struggled with what colors to go with for the exact reason you are saying. I basically matched the colors as best I could with the original swamp skier that I own (I think there were 2 variations though). Since its so different in form, it was the only way to pay homage to the original besides decals. But there was a part of me that wanted to go nuts with colors. My cautious side won out.

Awesome! Someone painted the horrible Red Banshee to look like a badass swamp skier for Sigma 6 Zartan. I never thought it would be topped, but this is every bit as cool.
