Wow! That's exactly right...pity you didn't note the sculpt changes, extended harness or anything like that, but then I wouldn't expect you to be able to tell anyway, so it's no loss. The nicest thing about it is that since it's all cast in the base colors, you don't have to worry about paint rubs in the joints like some of the customs you'll see on Ebay by those guys who like to spam out crap and call it golden in a vain hope to be relevant.

Oh, I didn't know that was yours...but I suppose that's just as well. Since you want to add your custom to my thread about my custom, let me offer you a bit of constructive criticism: You might do well to continue to use your simple formula of-
helmet/backpack-Nostromo Ripley Kubrick (sorry, mine came from Dallas [Ebay $7.95 BIN plus shipping]), hence the clear faceplate but nice guess) skullcap-Naboo Guard head-Steeler chestrig-Ace body/arms-Snow Serpent thighs-Matt Trakker lower legs-Zartan feet-Gung Ho belt-Blowtorch -so that you don't have to do any significant amount of work other than kit-bashing together pre-existing parts, but the paint apps should be tightened up I'd think and perhaps a touch up on the helmet (as well as some finish sanding and perhaps some beading to fill the joint where it meets the collar) as well would provide a better quality product for your potential customers (since the only reason you make customs apparently is to sell them on Ebay). Perhaps a 10/0 or 20/0 Liner brush for watercolor would allow you to reach those difficult places and crisp up those paint lines? I hope that helps you out, because that's what I'm here for. While your idea of just buying a bunch of troop builders and using those as base parts for customs seems like a good idea to you, I'd prefer to leave those on the shelf for folks who are still looking for them. I bought my copies for my collection, and to customize with and thats enough.
As for that other custom astronaut, I don't recall that being yours. Funny that I would have missed it, but hey, no loss if I did my own right? If your using acylic laquer (I assume you are given the high gloss of your paint), try using a thinner made for it, and adding a flat base. Your colors will blend better, and lay down a lot smoother than what I've seen so far. As for my parts choices, I prefer to do a little bit of reference when I work on something. You might want to go dig up pics of what an EVA suit looks like, and you'd see that the boots are actually pretty accurate from the cleated soles to the thickness due to many layers of insulation for protection. Same goes for the gloves, which frankly on a real suit are even more full and cumbersome due to the air-conditioning that has to pass through the entire suit to preven frostbite and hypothermia. I'll admit, I did take some artistic liscence with the design though, but I'll write that off to a creative nature. For a figure like that, it usually around the $60 mark or so (if I sell 5 copies, I'll be happy with the investment in time and money). I consider it a better investment than a figure that someone bashes together that can't be played with at all because the paint will rub off every time you flex an elbow or bend a knee. You know what I'm talking about, right? Last edited by Alyosha; 02-25-2009 at 09:21 AM.. |

Already explained everything that I'm willing to explain to you twice. Are you just too thick to get it?
