Very nice work; I'm terribly impressed man. As others have mentioned already, I have considered this to be a difficult custom for someone to attempt to pull-off, and I am very impressed with the way you imagined up the parts and pulled them together. Frankly, I just didn't think there was any combination of parts already out there in this line to make this figure.
Honestly, I wasn't as impressed with your Crazylegs--but that was based merely on your choice of color, as I would have preferred the color-scheme to match more authentically. Question for you, though. Are you finding it hard to get a green to match up to those of the vintage ('87) counterparts when you're doing your customs? I didn't know if you intentionally went a bit darker on this Fast Draw custom, but I have now tried to re-paint two Lt. Falcon figures and despite my best mixing attempts, still could not get the green base to come out yellow enough to match the vintage. It keeps on drying up darker. Weird. |

Amazing job, this was one of my favorites as a kid, and looking at him standing next to your figure makes me realize how horrible some of the figures got the longer I was collecting! =)
O also remember now why I kept his visor down. |

I have been trying to figure out a good recipe for him for over a year. This is amazing and only the second one I have ever seen of him. I would even buy it off of you... but you gave such a great breakdown and how to do that I will just blantantly rip off your idea and add my own touches. AMAZING!!!!

Weird. I found that this happened with the light blue I used for my Motor Viper and the red I used for both Crazylegs and Fast Draw (Also, this particular shade of red was leftover paint I had from a custom Macross fighter I did up). With the olive drab green I used here, I originally purchased it when I was worried we would only get Yellow Stalker and not the properly colored green one (I guess I jumped the gun a little too early on that one! ). So with this Fast Draw custom, I was just trying to use up some green paint I had already purchased. I really wasn't trying to match it up with the yellowish-green of the original figure. Once I attached the vintage missile backback to the painted 25th figure, it also became ridiculously obvious how mismatched the shades of greens were. That's part of the reason why I went ahead and painted over the vintage backpack too. |
