My son's FSS Surefire, like many of your own, was missing the appropriate paint app to the right arm. He asked if I would be able to fix this for him and below is the result. For any of you interested in my paint formula, I used Testors enamels to match the figure's shirt color: Beret Green, Flat Gray, Flat Yellow and Flat White. The final color is pictured alone in the bottle on Surefire's left.
*** Remember when mixing and matching paints- the color is always a lighter shade when wet and it will darken upon drying. Last edited by Superjoe74; 05-31-2014 at 03:59 PM.. |

Wow that is surely awesome. Way to go to match the colors and help out a important collector.
I am a little pissed off about this and there hasn't been a apology from the club on this matter. If this was Masters of the Universe, people would be asking for blood. Also the fact that we pay 3 times the amount of there retail value for these toys is out of control that there is mistakes at all.

You are completely on-point with the fact that folks are paying way too much for the Club to just brush off amateurish mistakes like this. |

EEEEEK!!! Acrylics are HIGHLY recommend over enamels on soft plastics !
Enamels don't normally dry on soft plastic and can eat away at it over time...

I'm pretty sure Sure Fire's shirt is intended to be reversible (green/flesh), so there is no missing paint at all - just a rolled over sleeve showing the other color.

Okay, thought I was the only one that freaked over the enamels part. Looks good, put I also recommend acrylics for the ME figures.

The issue with using enamels on soft plastic is not with the actual plastic but instead, it's a chemical reaction between the enamel and the existing paint on the figure. The two paints react causing an instability which prevents them from setting and they will remain tacky. In this case there was no existing paint. If the surface being painted is cleaned appropriately- removing existing paint, debris, etc. an enamel will ensure a good adhesion and a solid and durable finish. |
