I just wanted a good update of my first childhood Joe, one with the right colors, accessories, and a proper sized noggin. I did make a nod to the cartoon character model, by giving him contrasting shoulder stripes, instead of the old bicolored collar. I just didn't paint them a bright primary color.
Last one, that the board won't let me include. "Best Of" pack Duke body and limbs. Wave 9 Hawk head. Modified comic pack Duke bandolier. Tiger Force Duke rifle, binoculars, and back pack. Marauder grenade and pistol. The holster is made from thin sheet plastic. Colors used are all Model Master acryl line: US Army/Marine Iraq Armor, Olive Drab, Sand, and Interior Green. Skin tone is custom mixed, and the hair (which isn't as vivid as it looks in the pictures) is Sand, with a wash of Yellow Ochre water miscable oil paint. Shoulder stripes are Dark Tan. GORGEOUS!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! That head makes such a huge difference. Well done! *edit* One little detail that I noticed was, the sleeves rolled up might look a little better if they were the same color as the shirt. The fleshy tone makes it look a little off IMO.

Thanks guys!
I just popped back in here real quick, because I forgot to thank GI Guppy the third, for supplying the Hawk head. Ronnie, I painted them a lighter color to make them look like the inside of the material, which is usually a lighter shade than the outside. The colors came out a little weird in the pictures, most of them wound being either darker or more saturated, but the skin got blown out. The skin is a bit darker, and doesn't look a thing, like the rolled up cuffs. Last edited by Greyryder; 02-08-2009 at 05:57 AM.. |

i love the sleave 2 tone paint app, it really gives a nice rolled up shirt effect. it really reminds me of tv duke, why hasbro couldn't do this is beyond me. AWESOME! hey how come the board won't let ya post that last pic?

Perfect!
The mixture of accessories is what I did to my v1 duke as well, because all the others dont cut it, so I mix matched him with TF duke pack/binoculars/rifle and now Im pretty happy about it. Didnt repaint mine though.

I can't believe how good Hawks head looks, I would have never thought of using his head for Duke, but it works. Great job all around on your Duke custom.
