Hello all....I'm new to these boards, but have been following HISSTANK for sometime now. I'm always curious to know what people here do to create their Cobra base o' operations. Since Joe's always get these huge, elaborate playsets, and the best Cobra got was the Terrordrome. But I always felt that Cobra deserved better. Anyone have pics/suggestions/ideas?

We actually luck out on a Cobra Base Concept. Cobra usually embraces the "Cobra Temple" concept. This incorporates some sort of stepped pyramid, which is perfect for a custome fortress playset.
Start collecting clean cardboard boxes. Your looking for a largish one for the base. Smaller ones as you build up. Once you've collecting as many levels as you want. Cut the backside of the boxes out so as to expose the levels. Build a large sliding door in the front to allow vehicle access. Use scrap pieces of card board for details. You can get pretty elaborate depending how crafty you are. Go to the craft store. They have styrofoam pieces in many different sizes to build pillars or anything else you want. They'll have any other supplies you need. They also have scale furniture, such as chairs tables and other stuff. |

to add to the top of Z-rock's temple there:
Get the Starriors Battle Base. It works as a throne room and has that Cobra Temple feel to it Here's a pic of the outside of it when opened up: I also use a set from Aliens (It's for much smaller figures, but works for Joes) I added the cobra sound boxes from the legions set, two Cobras from Chap Mei's Pirates set next to a Flash Gordon Ming the Merciless Throne. There's a few other various items scattered around the set as well: |

That's a cool looking castle. I've heard of some people using the Narnia castle too. I've used Wayne Manor from the Batman 5" animated line from a few years back:

I don't know, that Snake Mountain thingy made from the Star Wars Arena playset was almost cool enough to make me buy Spytroops stuff.
Almost.
