Well, I finally got a creative streak and got around to an idea I had been toying with for quite some time. I present to you, the Cobra Urban Strike team led by the Baroness!
I have always liked the look of the PoC Alley Vipers as well as the Storm Eagle, even though it was a lame water blaster. When you look at it, it is almost a precursor to the modern F-22 Raptor. The 4WD on the other hand was an idea I originally was going to make as a Dreadnok vehicle but adapted it for this team. I decided on the color pattern from the Alley Vipers because it looks great IMO. I used a 25th Baroness and gave her the color pattern and liked how simple and effective it was. The Storm Eagle got it's ridiculous water blaster removed and the handle glued in. I also shaved off the missile pegs on the top because what plane would realistically have top wing missiles. Instead, I adapted 2 Rattler bomb racks to fit and accommodate 3 Rage Missiles each. They looked appropriate and worked with the color scheme. I wanted the UST 4wd to be badass so I epoxied the front "shield" of the Bomb Disposal to the front of a Vamp MK2. The gun is actually a Halo accessory that I had to retrofit to mount inside of a Vamp gun mount. I used some Vamp doors to finish it out. I used Tamiya German Grey for the bodies and Metallic Grey for the metal detail. The black is Model Master Acryl Flat Black and the red is British Crimson. This set will be on display and for sale at this weekend's Tucson Toy Show. Details on the show can be found in the Arizona Sightings thread here on the forums. I would love it if any of you Arizona tankers stopped by to say hi and check these out. A few more pics will be available on GI Joe Junkyard's Facebook page. Enough of my blabbering, here are the pics! |

Cannot believe how flat-out amazing you made that kiddie toy-looking Storm Eagle look. Makes me want to get a Storm Eagle to paint up too. Awesome job all around. What a set. Love this new color scheme you gave Baroness- I didn't really notice the grey arms and legs until I saw your other Facebook photos. Good update!

I love the Storm Eagle. I have one I have been working on myself. Gutted the cockpit and currently working on building it up. Your color scheme choice is awesome.

You have redeemed the Storm Eagle as far as I'm concerned! If I come across one cheap, I'll be copying you idea! BTW the Storm Eagle I suspect was based on Northrop's YF-23 (which competed with Lockheed's (Y)F-22)
