Most people use 1:18 scale vehicles and props with G.I.Joe. I've always thought 1:18 was a little small. Especially for the Modern Era line. Does anybody know if 1:16 scale will work, or be too big?
Thanks in advance!

It's accurately scaled, but the Joes don't bend like real people, so it's difficult to get them into things.

Are you saying 1:16 is accurately scaled or 1:18?
Because 1:18 seems small for the new Joes. That's why I sold all my 21st Century and BBI vehicles and embraced PTE. I found some 1:16 vehicles and props on-line, but I need a comparison pic with a Joe, or to have it in-hand before I can commit to buying.

The 1:18 is accurately scaled. Like i said the measurements are all "about on." The joes don't bend like regular people, so it's difficult to make them fit and retain accuracy with the vehicle. For instance, the forces of valor Bradley has a small rear compartment. In real life, those are VERY cramped in the back and only hold half a squad of men. You have to lean over, almost bowing to get inside. Yeah, here is a pic. I've been inside one, it's cramped as hell.
A real bradley is 21' 5.87" long. In 1:18 scale that is 14.3 feet, roughly. The Forces of Valor Bradley is 14.25" long. So it's accurately scaled. Most of the Joes, most action figures for that matter, legs' can't bend past 90 degrees, their shoulders can't be moved around, they can't squeeze their legs togethor. These things make it hard for joes to act like real people and makes it difficult to fit into the confined spaces of real military vehicles. On top of that Joes are 4" figures to boot. That makes most of them at least 6 foot tall. People like Scarlett and others might not be quite that tall. So some of the joes are out of proportion moreso than the vehicles. I hope they correct the scales for the figures themselves down the road too. I hope that helps.

Oh, the 1:16 version of the Bradley would be more than 2 inches longer than the 1:18 scale version. That is just monstrous.

I understand all that, because I used to have all those vehicles.
I want to know how much bigger is 1:16 than 1:18. Will 1:16 work with the new Joes since they're 4" and not 3 3/4"? Basically, I'm looking for a forklift that will work with Joes. I found a 1:16 forklift, and by the dimensions listed, it looks like it will work, but I can't make up my mid with out having it in-hand.

Some of those 1:16 figures popping up at Target and whatnot seem enormous next to true 1:18 figures, don't you think?
I suspect the 1:16 scale vehicle would probably be all right for what you need, but it is hard to say for sure unless you have in hand (as you said). |

The Bruder company makes 1:16 scale vehicles and equipment, but I have yet to see anyone show a photo of any Joe with their product. There's a ton of customizing potential with these although they're a bit pricey. They look like they'd fit really well with the 25th/Modern Era figures.

I guess what it boils down to is this:
Will 1:16 scale fit? Sure, but it will be too large. Is 1:16 to scale with joes? No. But, Joes aren't even to scale with themselves to be honest. That's really all i can tell you outside of what i already have.

I was looking at the CAT forklift and the price isn't bad. The larger vehicles are pretty pricey, but I would love to get one of their Mack trucks and paint it to look like Optimus Prime for Joes. I contacted a Web site that sells them, and they said the opening on the forklift is 3 1/2" high. I'm at work. Anybody have a Joe handy? How high is a Joe in the sitting position? 3"? That leaves 1/2" of head room. That sound about right?
