i know i know, it's not as cool as snake eyes version 945 or sgt slaughter ver. 423, or steel brigade ver. 367. the reason i do these figures from the 90's is because they're fun to do, very few people do them, and a lot of the molds are awesome from that period, just painted bad. i try not to do customs that have been done a million times just because they're popular. it's like listening to a radio station that plays the same 14 songs 44 times a day, it gets old. "awesome, the eagles are on again, i haven't heard them in 13 minutes".
anyway, i enjoy the characters i do, and more are on the way. i make them for myself and if 1 or 2 people enjoy the pics, all the better. I hear ya A.V.A.C.. I dig it. Your sculpting looks great. You sure put a ton of details on him. Great custom overall. Last edited by Kalibus; 01-21-2009 at 01:22 AM.. |

This is awesome! You know A.V.A.C., we may be the only two who fully appreciate the wonderous age that was the early 1990's.

the thing is, i didn't enjoy them. i quit collecting joes in 89. i didn't start collecting again till 2001. i am quickly filling the gaps i left, and in the mean time, gaining a appreciation of these figures. maybe, because i never shared in the collective hatred that hit the fan back in the day for these guys. i think a lot of its merited, but the fact that it's hated spurs my interest, i'm a sadist.

thank-you grim, i couldn't of said it better. people hate the alley viper colors but they love the mold. it's the same with the later lines. "bad paint" great molds. the paint offers a kitsch factor for me and a lot of the molds were remakes like we see today. however, atrocious things were done throughout the whole line from 82-94, not just in it's death throes. the death bed designs are facsinating to me, sometimes history repeats itself. looking back, it seems like a trainwreck. in truth, it's simply a step back in time and a snapshot of the times.

Great job. I wasn't really aware this viper existed.
