Nope. If Hasbro does their versions of these guys, I'll buy them happily as will practically everyone else.

if you make a mold of hit & run using hasbros original and everyone buys yours, when hasbro makes a hit & run using the same basic formula, dont you think it may influence the market at all?
(not to mention the influence you may have on what the design team sees on the market and decides what figures to do next) I would also like to mention the rights of hasbros copyrighted materials you are using |

Custom pieces like his are very pricey and many people can't buy it. I highly doubt it would influence the market at all. Also, if the design team sees how well done it is, it would give them ideas as to what would work for future releases. As for copyright, well, he never said that it was Cross Country and Hit and Run, we decided that given the way the pieces are, we can paint them up and make them into Cross Country and Hit and Run.

How would this hurt the line? There's lots of awesome parts that he makes which I want that can be used to compliment the figures that Hasbro makes. Example, I have a Cutter (the Hasbro version). He makes a head that's way better than what Hasbro released. I'll buy the Hasbro one and his head. Also, the Short Fuze gear, how many of us bought Short Fuze but wished he had the webgear that looks like the original one. I bought a Short Fuze, now I'm waiting to see if I can scrounge up the money to buy the webgear from him. I don't see it hurting the future. Just my opinion.

and as for the copyright, that is not what I am talking about, these casts are actual copies of an original mold produced by hasbro, the copy right does not limit to just name but likenesses also, |

Not sure how the law works on the copyright issue, but after you buy a figure from Hasbro, you can do what you want with it, and if you make copies of the parts, that's up to you, as long as you don't sell them as official Hasbro parts and they don't look exactly like the Hasbro ones, then it would be ok. That's what I think, but I could be totally wrong.

no one has the right without expressed written permission to make a copy (mold) from an original product to resell for profit, take for example: if say a guy wanted to make a figure, we will take the trans torturer (his work is great so lets use him) goes to the store and buys a g.i. Joe bat, does his magic and resells it he has done nothing to infringe on the right of the copyright owner for the following reasons, 1. the item was sold to a consumer so the company actually received its profit from the customize 2. the actual purchase is for the work done not the bat itself 3. the item is not a mass produced copy of an original it in itself is an original piece of artwork. |

Way to go man! Why don't you ask Hasbro for work? You and the rest of the guys here who make joe customs should be working for Hasbro doing the figures instead of the subpar jackoffs who are the current employed sculpters. I love all three of them specially H&R.

I've got a fantastic idea "Fumbles". Why don't you head on over to YoJoe and start this conversation up over there, because that's about the only place where your going to get someone to jump on your bandwagon.
I know what lines that I can cross, and what I cannot do. Not just conjecture, but from the horse's mouth. I've had my share of dealings with Hasbro legal and have had to learn the hard way. Every year or so, some guy with a stick up his butt comes along and decides to hop on a soap box about custom/casting/selling customs/custom cardbacks, and frankly I've had about all I can stand of it. Unless your a copyright lawyer, keep your legal conjecture on what I do out of my threads and go on your witch hunt elsewhere. I post for those who want to see, not for those who want to bitch. |
