Hey guys, a little while back I got tired of displaying my Transformers on plain shelves, so I made Teletraan plates.
Well, I got sick of seeing my Joes on the shelves, so I'm starting some backgrounds for them. They'd also be great to use in dios as well. These are for anyone to print and enjoy. Just please post pics if you use them! Basically, I'm starting a library, but here's what I've got so far: Index of /hisstank/backgrounds • Cobra curtain (modified curtain image from Flickr, don't sue me) • Cobra flags (they match the Legions box set, but are modified and taller... 3 versions, depending on your need) • 3 brick backgrounds I'll update the list as they're made. More to come! Enjoy! Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 12-17-2008 at 09:17 PM.. |

And for anyone wanting to modify them, here's the Transformers backgrounds:
Index of /projects/ark Instructions included. Amaro's already modded them for Joes, so feel free to check out his work as well, since he kept going with what I'd started: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...etran-1-a.html |

Is there a specific kind of ink and paper one should use to print these backgrounds? Or will standard paper & ink give the same results?

You can connect it directly as long as you have the correct drivers or you will need to have your PS3 as a part of a network with a shared printer. I hope that helps Eddie.
To the OP, thanks those are great and, with a little photoshop, could be made up to be used for anything.

If you print them at home on your deskjet, they'll use up a lot of ink, and you may not have the right size paper...just be aware the ink may go fast. Which ones are you wanting to print? If it's something like the flags, I'd suggest photo paper, as it will look more professional. Whatever you print it on, I'd suggest spray mounting it to something sturdier, or printing on card stock if at all possible. |

Also, if I'm making them, I may as well share them. It's not like I'm spending anything on parts or anything, and the labor was done, so why not? Did you check out Amaro's thread? He's done a great job modifying them for Joe use already, and he may have made them printer-friendlier than I did as well. Fortunately for me, I work at an ad agency and have access to a great studio, plotters, high-end printers, and a huge area to assemble things. Not to mention, I'm pretty well-versed in Photoshop, etc. Unfortunately for others, when I share my files, they're not always the easiest to figure out, since I don't think like that. Hope they're not too unmanageable though. |

I'm really glad you shared them. My Joe room will be completed sometime next month and I needed some backdrops for my displays. Your work will definitely get me headed in the right direction.
I haven't seen Amaro's thread. I'd like to though. Do you have a link to it? I went to school for Web Design, but also took some classes on print media. These will be great for me. Unfortunately, I don't have the use of the proper printers right now. A good way, for most of us, would be to save what we want to print to a disc and take it to to Kinkos or other print shop. It should be cheaper than using all of that ink. Depending on the paper that is used, too much ink will result in some very wet paper and a distorted image.

His re-modded work turned out awesome for Joes, no further work required. Yes, I should have mentioned Kinkos. Sorry, haha. Like I said, for me, I have everything ready so I don't even think of places like that. It would be cheaper, yes. Thanks for the response guys, glad some folks are putting it to use. |
