Ok, here's one I'm dying to know...
How come every time I use my dremel to make a Valor vs. Venom head 25th compatible, even with vice grips, I still almost lose an eye or a finger? What am I doing wrong, what kind of bit/setup are you people using to make sure your eyes and fingers remain intact? 106 Engraving Cutter / Model: 106 |

Don't use long hairs when you want a brush with only 11 hairs. Those are for painting long thin stroke on canvas. You need a brush with VERY short hairs and only like 3 or 5 hairs to paint stuff like buttons. But even then, I use one of the long haired ones and I still don't have problems, just keep it damp and it won't fray. Whats this I hear about a spoon used to crack torsos? |

Work under good lighting. Also, if you want to catch spots that you missed, take a pic with the flash Brillianton. You'll quickly find any and all flaws that you can't see with the naked eye. And if you're like me and don't fix the flaws, they will DRIVE. YOU. NUTS.
Natural sunlight is often the best lighting for novice photographers. Flashes often look terrible because they can blow out a photo and make a hot spot and your paint jobs, although looking factory, will look like bad customs (even though I'm guilty of this because I'm lazy and rarely home during the daylight hours). I've only done a few customs, but I've taken practice pics just to get an idea of how a piece looks outside of my POV. You may be amazed at how the flash brings out the paint job, or details. I've realized that certain tecniques have looked horrible and I've seen huge missed spots. I'm sure it's been said, but don't forget the macro lens option! I never knew what it was, and it's important to remember, at least on my camera, that the lens resets to normal every time the camera is turned off. |

You're probably not using them right xD

And this may seem simple and stupid, but... Don't dip your brush all the way up to the metal collar! It's hard with a short, tiny tip, but keep the metal clear. Paint is tough to get out of there and it will dry and cause the tip to be split and useless. Keep the useless brush for drybrushing or other techniques though. |

Yeah, leaving paint in there also causes that paint to leak into other stuff you may be painting! So always clean your brushes completely.
Also, when taking pictures of your figures, don't get up close to them, stand away like 2 feet or something and take the picture. If you're too close, you may get a warping effect at the edges, or worse, your camera won't focus on everything and you'll get blurry spots for no good reason. |
