Hello all. I've never customed before. I would like single card dreadnoks, but hate the look of the ones coming. So, I would like to remove blowtorch, etc. and swap them with comic pack version. I assume you exacto the bubble or something close and then reglue. Any links or tips? thanks.

This sounds like an opportunity to proliferate a method of swapping figures out for a quick return to wally world or target. Repacking is a huge problem in my area and i would hate to see it spread further across numerous areas.
But, you should probably be given the benefit of the doubt... The majority of the time you are going to damage the card with any method of removal. A blade will cut the card and leave numerous remnants on the bubble. You can remove these remnants from the bubble, but it will leave your card looking less than desirable. I'm not sure about any chemical methods of removal and i doubt the old steaming method will keep your card intact. You may simple want to create your own cards. You could use vintage art from the old cards to boot. Wyo has a very nice tutorial for this inside the customs forum. Just page through. It is in PDF form.

i was gonna steam my cards in the beginning to remove everything perfectly, but was affraid of the steam ruining my cards, an i wanted my cards looking perfect an stored, so i never tried it! but i wouldn't wanna do it to recard the bubble, your comic guy isn't gonna match the art work on the card. an it's torch not blow torch, that would look even more silly havin cp torch on a blow torch card lol!

As I stated in my first post, I like single card figures. What actually made me think about doing it is scarlett pilot. She looks horrible. I saw someone swapped the head easily. So, I thought I would cut open my scarlett, swap the head with a loose one and put her back in to hang back on my wall. Where as I doubt scarlett going up in value, so selling isn't my worry. I would rather have an ugly scarlett on great card, then cool head scarlett with beat down ugly card. All of my stuff is moc hanging up, so just trying to straddle the fence on customizing/keeping moc. So, I just would like some info. I'm thinking new exacto blade flat underneath the figures feet, slice around and pull bubble out. do custom work, reinsert, super glue back? what do you think?

Yeah... sounds like a repacker to me. Oh wait.. this is the same dude that said the Manager at his Wal-Mart said the Joe line was dead! Go ahead.. try your hand at single carded re-packing. If it was so damn easy.. don't you think more repacks of single carded figures would be on the shelves? I think I will monitor this thread because this is gonna get really funny!

I'm going to stop this now. This looks to be just a guy trying to do custom figures on cards. Whay are we assuming he's going to do anything illegal here. A few of our customizer friends here play around with making their own cards and sealing bubbles to them. If you can make a figure that looks closer to the art on the card and you want to have it sealed after making the adjustments, then why can't you?
Please give the benefit of a doubt and don't blindly judge other people Back on topic: If there was a sure fire way to geth the bubbles off the cards without damaging them, I'd love to know! I have a few cases worth all with little plastic rings attached to them |
