I've been busy gathering parts and slicing and splicing for a few months now and have about 25 figures that need painting. I have only done light customizing in the past and am taking a deeper dive now to make my favorite figures really stand out. So I started with a character that I am not necessarily a big fan of but was able to make him turn out pretty well. He was a good one to start with though in case I messed up anything.
MY JOE VERSE My Joe verse is a bit more grounded and I like my figures and themes to be closer to actual military but with some of the flare that the GIJ lore brings. I think of it as GI Joe being more Spec Ops and Cobra being more of a national, financial, and political presence throughout the world. MAJOR BLUDD Major Bludd heads up the Armored Calvary Division of Cobra. He is a cowboy at heart, ruthless yet calculating in every move. The Major believes he is better suited to run Cobra as he is willing to do what is necessary. Cobra Commander knows this but respects that Major Bludd has the devotion of his men and since he commands one of the most powerful divisions within Cobra, Cobra Commander must depend on and trust in the Major. His rivalry continues amongst the Cobra leadership as Major Bludd is an old flame of Baroness. He let his military career take him away from Baroness and his true love was lost. He hates Destro for his posh Castle, business deals with fancy food, and sitting by criticizing Cobra while Major Bludd is on the forefront of the battle leading Cobra's armored divisions into battle. Destro knows that Major Bludd's feedback on MARS equipment in the field is imperative to the continued growth of MARS so he must keep the Major happy whilst not letting him get close to the Baroness or giving him too much power. ABOUT THE FIGURE The Major comes with two pistols that he wears constantly holstered. Show pieces mainly, a gift from a prime minster in western Europe that he helped many years ago. While beautiful pieces of weaponry, they are ever at the ready and capable of dealing death. The Major also keeps a SMG near by should anyone get close enough to his tank however he rarely needs it as he deals death from afar. The Major wears a cape to protect his right arm from the cold and heat of the desert. He lost a limb while commanding a group of British tanks in Africa 15 years ago and now wears a prosthetic. P.S. I realized after taking pics with my phone that I had left his dog tags off. I am using them as well on the figure. RECIPE Head, Torso, arms, legs, dogtags - 25th Major Bludd, all modified Helmet, Goggles - PoC Alley Viper Vest, Radio/Phone - PoC Recondo Pistols, Holsters, Cape - RET GI Joe Trooper Backpack SMG - RoC Pit Trooper Last edited by Stryker927; 07-10-2012 at 11:04 AM.. |

Nice take on the Major. I don't care for the cape, but everything else works. Did you use the Extreme Conditions Desert Pack Bludd or the DVD pack Bludd?

I used the DVD Battles Bludd. I dry brushed a dark tan/sand color on the brown parts to take away the shine and make him more gritty. Figured as a tank commander in the deserts, he should look grittier. The cape for me added some sophistication that I thought should be there for someone heading up the Armored Division and had a British heritage. Just something to differentiate him from all the others.

Thanks for the heads up. I was afraid it was something other than an SMG. I tried looking it up but didn't know what to call it. Good to know.

I like the idea of the cape, but it rides up a bit high on the shoulder. Any way to incorporate it into the vest to lower it? Great figure, though, with perfect painting.
