[QUOTE=mandingo_rex;408451]Nah, I hate painted flesh, especially non-factory paint. Flesh tone rubs off too easily when guns/etc will be rubbing the paint, and if he molds them in flesh, they work for Tele-and regular Viper both, using the same mold.
QUOTE] True, but the only part that would be flesh painted would be the inside of the wrists where little to no contact would be made versus the ret of the hand piece (like 90%) that would nbeed to be painted. Again, ot to nit pick, but it would save time and energy painting and finishing these beaut's.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an amateur customizer at best and rarely paint/finish. That and I don't know the cost effectiveness in casting in red versus fleshtone, but to me, I would be more interested in buying a custom piece that needed little painting as opposed to a piece needing much painting. Especially since you would be putting weapons in the hands, the red paint could/would rub off exposing the fleshtone underneath. Red plastic would eliminate the need for touch-ups. Red plastic, I feel, would open the door to a broader customer base. Those fully capable of customizing and those who aren't and are put off by the daunting task of painting.

Customizers who have a talent for painting surely will have no problem for this...the majority of people who do not would benefit from having less work to do...not that the work is so incredibly difficult, but that if they feel they aren't up to the challenge, they are thus put off and less likely to buy. Were they cast in red or blue or whatever color works for the figure intended to recieve the custom piece, I would be more inclined to buy then to upgrade my figures. I hope Darrkscythe does well regardless, I'm merely offering a suggestion. One less likely to be taken given that he has already made casts of these parts...but a suggenstion nevertheless.

And you say Im sounding like hasbro? lol :P gotta make the most out of the mold. flesh tone is always a pain in the ass to paint for most nearly everyone. And this way, anyone can use them for either televiper or normal viper or any other viper they throw at us. |

I always consider casting things in the right colors. I do my work so that the most people can use it. and I try to make things so that even newbs can use them. But Even a newb has to grow and learn. not everything can be so easy.
I did consider casting in colors but getting resin to color match a plastic is a horrible amount of guesswork and luck. Totally not worth the effort. If you're worried about paint rubbing off, try model masters flat overcoat lacquer. works great. |
