Take a look at my Cartoon Flint repaint of Tiger Force Flint.
I was almost going to do the typical Black Shirt repaint to match the comic book look. Then I got to thinking, that the Flint I know and love, the Flint that I think of, is the Flint from the Cartoon. I searched and searched and found that there really aren't that many custom Cartoon Flint figures so it was obvious to me that I had to try and make one of my own. I used the Olive color of Krylon Camouflage Paint with Fusion Technology so it stuck to the plastic pretty well. For the brown parts I used some old acrylic paint I had from art class. Liquitex "Burnt Sienna". I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. This is the first custom that I completed 100%, and even though it took a lot of work it was all worth it to me. |

Awesome Job! Really nice work. It's great that you made a Cartoon Flint... let's be honest, in the comic, Flint could be a pretty big Jerk at times. He's my favorite, don't get me wrong, but Cartoon Flint was way better than Comic Flint.
Right ON!!!

Yes! Mr. G's custom cartoon Flint was an inspiration for what I did. I liked how you stuck closely to the cartoon color scheme. I tried to do that same. I also saw one or two figures on joecustoms.com but there are many times more Black Shirt Flint custom figures than cartoon versions.
I tried to look at the cartoon images of Flint and tried to match the look of the character as best I could. I felt lucky to find a decent option for the Olive drab green. The Krylong Camo Paint may be a good option for other Joe customs, figures or vehicles. It's fusion paint the bonds to plastic and comes in typical military colors Olive, Kahki, Brown and Black, and you can find it in most stores. I bought my paint at Walmart. I hope more people continue to do more cartoon customs. I am always going to be a fan of the cartoon series 1st and the toys 2nd. I only became a fan of the comics recently, and of course they're great. Though the comics did come first chronologically, it was the cartoon that first made me a fan. Yo Joe! |
