1st time poster here, but I thought I'd show some of my modifications that have turned mediocre/bad figures into outstanding figures IMHO.
1st off: Baroness and Scarlett. They both suffered from an extreme case of diaper crotch and hunchback. I improved the range of motion in the mid torso so they can lean way back and hold the pose w/out bouncing back to their hunchback default. They can also sit down now, thanks to the crotch fix I did: Last edited by phil56201; 10-26-2008 at 08:36 PM.. |

I fixed the neck on the DVD CC. Looks much better now and still retains full range of motion:

Well done. I'd like to do the same thing with my dremmel but fear messing up and ruing my only figures of each. Same with Duke, though I have several of him.

Speaking of Serpentor, I basically had to buy all 3 just to make the ultimate Serpentor. Head, chest snake tails, snake helmet, and Cobra hood all from the DVD box set. The rest is the original single Serpentor, except for the Air Chariot Serpy's waist coat, which is far softer than the original one is. I painted his snake helmet yellow on the snake lips, painted the fangs white , and the eyes black.
I matched up a very close green and painted the chest snake tails. I also had to do a diaper crotch fix on this guy as well. Here he is: Last edited by phil56201; 10-26-2008 at 08:39 PM.. |

And lastly, my arm fixes for Duke, Hawk, and Falcon. Gripping their rifles properly:
Arms still look good in neutral poses. Showing off the increased range I can now attain. That's it for now...hope you all enjoy. Last edited by phil56201; 10-26-2008 at 08:41 PM.. |

I have a suggestion for the photography. It looks like it's out of focus because the figure is in front of a busy background. Could you try putting them in front of a plain background like a bed sheet or towel or cardboard box or something?
I would love to actually see what you're talking about for the scarlet and baroness figures. Did you cut away the back? How was this achieved? Do the stand straight easily? Can they hold a pose or do you have to kind of balance them? As I recall they can barely hold a pose as they come from the factory. I've always been frustrated by how they're hunched forward. |

They stand about as easy as any Joe figure.
Easier, if anything, as their ankle joints aren't impeded like 99% of the Joes are. I had to bend them all the way forward, and then using an x-acto, I made the slot that slides the upper torso back and forth longer. Used superglue to strengthen the joint. I'll try your suggestion for the pics, but they do clearly show the increaed mobility on them, as you know they are not able to stand that straight on the regular. |

Great mods man. What did you do for the Scarlett and Baroness figures? Also, what was your method for Hawk and the others as well? Your Serpentor looks great. I've been planning on doing the same for awhile when I come across that DVD pk. Its pretty bad that Hasbro has made three Serpentors and still hasn't gotten one right. Its almost like the Marvel Legends Build A Figure. You have to get all three to make a good one..lol.

I just take off little bits at a time, and when I acheive something satisfactory I sand it with a very fine grit, and finish it off with some Novus plastic polish.
It helps to have a figure on hand with similar but functional articulation, and then just try to shape the dud joint after the good one. |
