I'm surprised Sunbow didn't have an episode like this. The "evil twin" is such a cheesy cliché and a way to cut down production costs. Like a repaint. Reminds me of Bizarro. Or that blue He-man with the orange hair, lol.
That said, it is pretty damn cool & I love the props you used! |

hey thanks everybody! as many have guessed, this was heavily influenced by he-man's faker. i have always loved when a uniform gets a different color treatment when used for a double of some sorts. faker to he-man, us agent to captain america, rodimus to black rodimus, etc. i had been wanting to make one for g.i. joe for a while and finally got around to it. zoe suggested that it was "frail" compared to other figures i recently customized, but it had to be. i was making an evil "double" of 25th duke, so the "double" would have to share his 25th-era design. if you consider 25th duke to be frail, then you would consider his evil twin to be frail as well. i'm glad many of you totally got the idea that this could have slipped in between the cracks of an old sunbow episode, which was exactly what i was going for. thanks for all the kind words!
a little tidbit: i reversed the bandolier on "double" just for a little evil twin fun. |

The figure looks good- I would buy it at retail. But, it is not just the figure which is neat here- it is also the idea behind the figure. How many times did Cobra try to infiltrate and undermine the Joe Team with 'doubles' in the Sunbow cartoon?
