For as long as there has been flight, there has been aircraft carriers in navies all over the world. In movies, books and television, from comics to cartoons and video games. The Aircraft carrier has been a center of attention for ages.
G.I. Joe has had their own carrier for attention in the form of the Nimitz Class FLAGG, whose name was taken to honor the Joe team's original CO- General Flagg, whom was killed in battle( comic series) We who grew up in the 1980's had an awesome playset of this great Carrier. Comming to seven and a half feet of playstation greatness. Unfortunately, not all of us old time Joe collectors could get his or her hands on the Flagg, I was one of those. Always longing for one, I finally decided it was time. Time to make my own, much smaller and far less playable in terms of using a Skystriker to launch from it's deck.. Or so I thought. Since I could not own the massive playset, nor have the space for one if I even had it!(would have to remain boxed..) I had set out over a year ago.. to build my own Flagg. Over 100 hours went into the over-all construction of this replica. And I was planning to make a thread for it, around Joecon2012. But it's too awesome not to share with everyone! This thread will be picture heavy, since I did add plenty to see! This Carrier will be making her way to Joecon 2012, which is what she was originally being made for! Technicals of the Build. Scratch built many items on the carrier. Folded up wings that were once flat. Scratch built items - 4 SkyHawk VoTL fighters -4 One Man Subs- SHARC -1 Tomahawk Helicopter -2 Conquest X30 -all missiles, bombs and or Racks on planes with folded wings. Below deck has catwalks, shuttle equiptment, Hangar deck is scratch built completely, photos include some pre-assembly and Mock-up work. Many crewmen are on deck. including face Joes! Scarlett and Snake Eyes(in conversation by a Skystriker toward the stern of the ship) Wetsuit and Gungho(by the Sharc squadron) Duke and Flint(by the skyhawk squadron) General Hawk with another officer( on bridge ) Green shirts(in various places along walkways or by guns. ) Shipwreck( by stairwell talking to another sailor toward the back of a sea-Sparrow station Starboard Aft) Wildbill and dropzone (by An updated Dragonfly(DragonHawk) Random sailors and crew in various places along the ship. this ship is 1:500 scale. measuring at 29 3/4" long. 22" from base to top of the mast and is at least 5 inches wide.

Here is the other skystriker I'd scratched, but it did not make it on deck due to timing of the show. It will be replacing the one in the launched position. since true cats launched with wings open. if you look close enough to the plane.. you'll see it has One-Zero-Zero on it. and an early close up of just the scratch built joe-vehicles.. just found this one in the album. Here are updated photos of the lead Skystriker taking off. Had to fix those wings! Anyway, Here you go!
