Been trying to work this one out for awhile now...someone here did a version of Skeletron using Star Wars General Grevious as the base which was brilliant...wish I could recall who.
Anyway for referance the original Skeletron... SKELETRON Now that being said I wanted to do a take on the character...I've seen the original in hand and he has all the playability of a Retailiation driver figure....did I say that out loud? Ok a late 70's BSG figure. Anyway I wanted to take a crack at it. Mine started with the skull head of Montezuma...hey it seemed like a natural...the body however is very limited in poses. So I started looking for something else that seemed...boney? Which lead me to Star Wars Battle Droids. The body is a ball jointed red Target Arena Droid turned around so the back is the front and the double antenna clipped off. The rest is a tan? battle droid arms and legs popped out and put in backwards...I had to do A little dremmeling as I couldn't find a tan ball joint droid readily but one of the Clone Wars ones was usable. The red body has the advantage of a neck that slides inside the body which makes the neck adjustable so it doesn't look so long or so short. The arms legs and head are lightly sprayed with light grey spray paint. I wish I could come up with a stellar back story beyond Skeletron is a Red Shadows version of a BAT but I can't...lol. Nice work, I fucking love Skeletron. That might have been my one that you saw, though I copied it from someone else originally.

YES Darkhorse yours was the inspiration! I may try a hand at Kraken and Muton at some point if I can come up with an idea of my own...I don't mind taking inspiration but I rarely outright copy. Thanks! And thanks for all the good comments! |
