Bartholomew Becker
When he was eight years old, Bartholomew’s father passed away. Soon after his mother and he moved into her boyfriend’s trailer home. This was beginning of Bartholomew’s troubled life. His mother’s boyfriend was physically abusive toward Bartholomew. A night would not pass that Bartholomew would be punched and slapped around for no reason. Bartholomew’s only indulgence was classical music, his favorites being Strauss, Mozart, Wagner and Rossini. When Bartholomew was 15 he finally had enough with the constant abuse of his, now, stepfather. He ran away from home and began life riding rail cars any where they went. Only after seven months, Bartholomew rode a train that took him to a lumber camp in northwest Oregon. Bartholomew asked if he could work for the lumber company, the camp boss decided to give Bartholomew a chance. For three years, Bartholomew was only allowed to cut down trees with a double bladed broad axe. The boss told him that this would help build his strength, and that it did. Bartholomew became a natural as a lumberjack. By his third year Bartholomew was given a chainsaw, which he proved to be rather skilled with. Bartholomew would play various concertos with his chainsaw from Brahms’ Begräbnisgesang to Wagner’s Der fliegende Holander to Mozart’s Fifth symphony. He would also carve intricate sculptures and portraits with the chainsaw. Bartholomew would compete in the annual Lumberjack competitions and won numerous awards. One award was in the Hot saw competition, where contestants use chainsaws modified with engines ranging from two stroke single cylinder motor cycle engines to full blown V8 car engines. Work at the lumber camps can be long and boring at times. To pass the time, some of the lumberjacks would stage their own fight club. Bartholomew began fighting the other works, not well though. For months, Bartholomew would have the tar beat out of him, yet he always got up and went back for more. After a few years, just has the broad axe had built his strength, the fight club built his skills. Bartholomew began defeating every opponent in the camp, and he enjoyed doing it. Bartholomew decided to continue fighting in underground competitions from street fights to pit fights to fight clubs. Once he heard about Daremo’s JC Kumite Competition, Bartholomew decided this would be the best place for him to show off his skills. Bartholomew is antisocial and his only companion is a pigeon, Clarence, which he had rescued from a tree that was chopped down. Bartholomew found the hatchling and raised it. Clarence never leaves Bartholomew’s side, even during fight competitions. Clarence has been known to attack fighters in the ring distracting them long enough for Bartholomew to attack them. Some fight organizers are against the idea of Clarence being used during a fight, but since he flies freely there is nothing that anyone can do to stop Clarence from attacking Bartholomew’s opponents.
