Hey guys, this is my attempt at capturing the look that Flint had during the cartoon years. I tried to match the colors the best I could to the few stills I found on the net.
BTW since Im a MOC collector and have never done this before, I wasn't sure what paints to use so I went with acrylic. I like the colors but I am not too thrilled with how thick the paint dries. I would love some advice on which type of paints to use in the future. So here it is, Cartoon Flint: Back view: Last edited by Echo7Solo; 10-22-2010 at 11:24 AM.. |

Acrylic is good to use. Next time, use a little water to thin the paint which will give you a thinner but smoother coat on the fgure. Then use a flat or no-gloss spray finish on it to keep the paint from rubbing or scratching off.
I'm sure there are sites you can google to find some kind of tutorial with paint brands and brush techniques. I am a student of experience and have learned by trial and error. It gives you a better undersanding of what you're doing. Pick a cheap comic pack figure and toy around with different techniques so that when you do get to cstomizing, you're set with what you plan to do. Nice custom. |

good first! yeah he was darker in green in the cartoon.
Try thinning out your paints with acrylic paint thinner. just alittle bit though. and do several thin coats. that should help you get rid of the "thickness" you didnt like. also, spraypaint can be really thin. |
