Hello everyone.
Realising that even a beginner Joe collector like myself ends up with literally dozens of guns lying around, I wanted to do something with them all. I searched on the net for pictures of gun walls, where gun fetishists display their collections of guns, and wanted to make one of my own. I went to Hobbycraft and bought a pack of balsa wood shapes (I imagine a proper scratch builder has this lying around and can cut it to shape) and a bag of black track pins that railway modellers use to fix tracks to their baseboard. I then printed out a grid image (another net search), glued it to a piece of appropriately-sized balsa, and arranged the guns on it. I stuck pins in to support the guns and bam, instant gun wall. The frame is other bits of balsa held in place by more pins. The big disadvantages is that it keeps wanting to fall over (the metal things in the photos are inserts for wargaming miniature bases) and that if it does fall over the guns go everywhere. Still, makes for a cool backdrop for my cabinet, and those problems I can fix if I one day get round to doing a proper display. You can take my gun from my tiny plastic hands. Custom Cobra Mortal considers which guns to use when I get round to painting him (ie probably never, unlucky hombre). |

Whats the recipe for that figure? It's pretty cool. Nice work on the armory.

Great idea. It seems like an obvious concept, but I never thought of it and I haven't seen another one, so good job.

Thanks dudes. I'm kind of surprised no one seems to have done it before, either. I mean, it's not like anyone's actually going to carry that Jungle Viper rifle.
The Cobra Mortal has a RoC Cobra Eel torso and a bunch of varied Viper arms and legs (I wanted him to asymmetrical). The gun is someone's assault rifle with a length of brass rod to extend it into a sniper rifle and bit of plastic sprue cut off to make the tip. His head is from Resolute Snake Eyes OKAY OKAY IT'S FROM SPIN KICK SNAKE EYES O GOD I FEEL SO DIRTY. |

I have been thinking about doing the same thing, I have a ton of guns and they are stored in bags. I like your idea, it is simple and effective. You could use this to create an armory for the Joes or Cobra.
