An easy way to create the realistic "grease" stains is by using wash/ drybrush technique. First use an acrylic black or deep grey and get another empty paint bottle (youll use it again!!!) and put a few drops of your dark color, Black grey etc, and mix it up. Use a larger brush and kinda swab it on the areas you want to look dirty. Start light, until you get the hang of it. Let it dry a little bit, you want this color to stick into the LOWER areas your painting, so you can wipe of big droplets as long as it stays in the recesses. The repeat until you get the desired look. Once that is done, Then take a Slightly LIGHTER color, like your Black or grey with just a TOUCH of white or tan, and use a SHORT bristled brush. DONT dilute this stage this is drybrushing. Get some paint on the short bristled brush, and wipe of MOST of it on a paper towel. you should hardly see any paint come off on the towel if you did it right, Then start drybrushing your ligher color over the areas you did the wash. This is nothing new for model makers, and some of the better customeiser here and they may have different techniques they use but its all the same.
After your done you will have a VERY nice look to the greased up hands. You could even do a wash on his bare skin before you do the greash wash, and that would look dope. Get a darker fleshtone color, and do the wash over his skin, and the dark wash will settle in the recesses and give you a very nice depth in his muscle tone. Someone just did that with a rambo fig and it looks AWESOME, and then I would do the grease wash.. These are just suggestions..you asked..Cool Idea for a non front line cobra...How about you do a Cobra Cook, with a filed kitchen next? I think that could be cool... |
