Hello everyone!
Got a thread in the WIP forums with my thoughts on the figure itself (generally very positive) and some WIP shots. Here's the finished article. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6271196066/] Are you sure this is my best side? [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6271195966/] Trust me, I'm a professional. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6271195694/] Don't worry, the giant metal claws are purely for hygiene reasons. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6271195458/] Now, what seems to be the problem? [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6270666973/] Amputation is the only answer. For everything. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6270666873/] Let's be reasonable. You don't really need both lungs, do you? [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6270666629/] I assure you, I take my Kippohratic Oath very seriously. [url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/68737895@N02/6270666385/] Take two of these and see me in the morning. By 'these' I mean 'bullets', and by 'see me' I mean 'expire in a pool of your own blood'. This is my first action figure custom and I learned a hell of a lot. For instance, I usually work in a much smaller scale (Warhammer figures mostly), and I'm not used to getting the smoothness that is so important in larger figures. Also, having never worked with an articulated figure before, I had real problems with paint rubbing off and getting blemished. This was especially true with accessories meant to be held in the figure's hand, like his assault rifle. More varnish may be the answer, or maybe working on the joints to eliminate contact points. I am pleased with his head but not really with the rest of him, although I think the overall impression approaches was aiming for. I'm hoping to practice more and adapt the techniques I use to the factors unique to action figures as opposed to miniatures. I also need to lern2takepictures, another learning curve. |

Welcome to the Tank, and to the world of customizing in this capacity.
And this is a great figure now. Before, it wasn't even worth admitting to owning. Outstanding work here.

Welcome to the 'Tank, and congratulations on taking an otherwise weak figure and turning it into a great one! Your paints are fantastic, my friend, and I look forward to seeing more customs from you!

Ha ha, I had no idea the Doctor got so much hate! Good to know even he can be rehabilitated a little.
Thanks for the comments everyone, they're all really encouraging. Already got some more Joes on the desk ready for mutilation. |
