Thanks, man! Much appreciated. And please, steal away; his name's already stolen, after all, heh-heh.

Another pulp-style hero, this one a 1950s test pilot:
I think his name surname will be Steele, ‘cause it sounds like a cheesy pulp hero’s surname. I haven’t decided on a first name yet. EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: Body: Toys R Us Air Command Three-Pack Ace Head: DC Infinite Heroes Superman Backpack: Presumably it came with one of the figures in the TRU Pack? I haven't decided on a complete back-story here. I think that perhaps he's a human who is the leader of a Decepticon cult, and he fancies himself the second coming of Megatron.
EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: Body: Pursuit of Cobra Alley Viper Head: Pursuit of Cobra Suitcase o' Cash Destro Helmet: Pursuit of Cobra Alley Viper Vest Thing: Some Anniversary Zartan or another Accessories: Ghost Rider chain; Zartan Chameleon engine Last edited by Monte Williams; 02-22-2014 at 03:03 PM.. This guy started as a Sigma 6 custom my friend Bill put together:
Bill lurks on the Joe Battlelines forums, and he is an active force on at least one MiniMates forum, as well. (JBL link deleted since the forums were likewise deleted). Prowl-Ar's Customs - Minimate Multiverse I was enamored with his original character, Badlands, so I asked him to make one for me, and when I finally, reluctantly started collecting the small-scale Joes again, I knew I wanted to recreate Badlands. My first attempt was a Lanard kitbash, before I even started collecting small Joes: Once Rise of Cobra got me addicted to this scale, I knew Outback’s head was the clear choice, but I held off on painting the hair for so long that now Badlands is simply a redhead to me. Off to the Badlands by Geek Creek, on Flickr How to Get Ahead in Counterterrorism by Geek Creek, on Flickr My Other Car is a Walking Stick by Geek Creek, on Flickr Of course, Joe fans (rightly) see the guy and think “Outback”, but to me he’s Badlands. EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: (This is the recipe for the most recent, most streamlined version featured in the bottom photo with the VW van). Body: Resolute 7-Pack Flint Head: Attack On Cobra Island Outback Holster: Rise of Cobra General Hawk Some of these recipes seem really obvious, but since people have asked me to include them... I'm gonna have to borrow that idea for using Snowjobs head for Rock n Roll. Thanx!
Nice Kitbashes too!

Complicating the Badlands hair color issue is that I created a (very) lazy custom of a new character who I quickly decided is Badlands’s sister, and since she’s a redhead, I figure he should be, too.
There’s a short-lived alternate take on Badlands in the background of this next shot: I call his sister Tree Frog. Bill has created a MiniMate version of her; he calls her Paradise. I like the juxtaposition of the names Badlands and Paradise, but I am attached to the name Tree Frog for some reason. (I jokingly called her Badlass until I came up with Tree Frog). EDIT: It took me a couple days to track down this photo of Tree Frog: There's that short-lived alternate Badlands in the background again, too. The body on that one is from the Attack On Cobra Island Zap figure. EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: Body: 5-Pack Lady Jaye Head: Rise of Cobra Scarlet Last edited by Monte Williams; 01-29-2014 at 08:28 PM.. Thanks, guys. I started a thread for my kitbashes on Joe Battlelines back in March, and there's already as many comments here as there are there, ha ha ha. I miss when that place was more lively, but there's lots to love here at the Tank.

Admittedly a weird take on Sci-Fi:
I want to get the Nano B.A.T. so I can add his translucent green attachments to this guy. I've also got a Matt Trakker backpack and a bunch of nanomite canisters for him. EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: Body: Resolute 7-Pack Snake Eyes Head: Resolute 7-Pack Alley Viper Webgear Thing: Resolute 7-Pack Zartan, modified and held in place with Suitcase o' Cash Destro's belt Belt: I can't remember, but I want more of them Last edited by Monte Williams; 01-29-2014 at 08:28 PM.. I put this guy together with Doc Terror from The Centurions in mind:
I've since realized he much more closely resembles Vulture, from the Marauders, the Corps version of Cobra: EDITED TO ADD RECIPE: Body: Pursuit of Cobra Suitcase o' Cash Destro Head: Extreme Conditions Scrap-Iron Last edited by Monte Williams; 01-29-2014 at 08:29 PM.. |
