Here's some of the basics of a new original verse I am working on, with pics to follow, if you are interested. It just skims the surface, but I wanted to start having some of this make sense.
This verse is based on a futuristic setting where Earth is the origin of man (at least as we know it) and still exists. In many ways, Earth's civilization and society has a contemporary, only slightly futuristic feel to it. Physically, the planet is now covered by much more of a cityscape than it is today, though after about the 26th or 27th century, the population started to recede, as colonization of space began in earnest at about that time. In the "present" of my verse, it is the 48th Century AD. Earth now is no longer the population center of the human race. In it's place the Two Kingdoms have taken over the primary rule of mankind. These kingdoms are natural rivals, and have fought many wars in the past, mostly over newly discovered planets, but bad blood does run deep. It has been several generations since they have warred with each other, though tensions have been running excedingly high of late. Earth's role is as a neutral and hallowed common ground. Political differences are mediated there, and the legal charters upon which the Kingdoms and their holdings are based are governed by Earth's Courts of Law. The planet remains relevant also as a center of trade, and the Commerce Congress with representatives from the Kingdoms and from the free planets all hold court there as well. There is no longer a standing military or fleet for Earth. It has become something of the Switzerland of this future intergalactic society, and by resting comfortably between the Two Kingdoms, enjoys significant autonomy. The one other important organization based out of Earth is a police like entity first created by the Commerce Congress centuries prior, in order to keep the peace between the Two Kingdoms (initially), and later on to patrol the Fringe Worlds as well, as the only organization with recognized authority by every human colony in existence. This organization, the Inter-Planetary Authority (IPA) is also largely responsible for the protection of commerce amongst the realms, and for the elimination of piracy in the depths of space. The Kingdom I am most focused on at the moment is called the Kingdom of Avalonia. It was a named as a contrived concept by the founding fathers, no doubt, but it is the name of the Kingdom comprised of 3 major in-system planets, and numerous out of system colonies and holdings. There is not any one planet named Avalonia, as the capitol or homeworld for this Kingdom is Orbis Bellator. The King and Queen of Avalonia - King Leondegrance de Bellona, and the Queen Cassia Cornelia: One of the political leaders within the Kingdom, Lord Horatio Ajax. Formerly (in his youth) the King's First Sword. His family owns the Ajax Armaments weapon manufacturing empire, which is the source of much of the family's wealth and power. Lord Ajax serves now as a Regent to the Commerce Congress on Earth: More below

The current First Sword, Lord Demetrius Cornua. Cornua has a nasty burn scar across the left side of his face (not sure how well this shows up), and has painted his war helm to mimic his real appearance.

The previous First Sword. He is no longer in the King's service, so he is also now not a member of the Royal Guard, nor a Paladin at all (knights from Avalonia are called Paladins - sound familiar? And from the other Kingdom, they are called Warlords). This is Percival (Percy) Ajax, son of Horatio, and deemed by his father as the disgraced son. He is something of a free agent now, but has a contract with the IPA for pirate hunting. This is but one version of several pending.
Percy's crew consists partially of Chase Alexander, the tech for his space ship (she's previewed in WIP form in another thread), Dexter "Baby Boy" Rollins, Jr., who has been previewed some time ago. He is the muscle and the mech of the crew:

Aeron Cole. Former head of security at Ajax Armaments, Aeron now flies with Percy, having essentially "defected" with him. The story behind Percy's demise as First Sword will certainly be told in time.
Percy's former "squire" for lack of a better term, also joined him, Serena Cartuth. Serena and Percy are the pilots, and also the two most skilled swords. More will follow. Just wanted to start giving some previews. I have big plans for dios and the like, but since I simply don't know when or if that plan will come to fruition, I wanted to start showing these off a bit. Critiques are welcome. Until I ever get to a point of shooting an actual story with them, nothing will truly be complete, I suspect. I'll get some recipes out tomorrow. It's getting late, and I'm tired of typing ;) But please do let me know what you think.

Vox Caeda was an important historical figure from the previous Human-Aqualarian Wars. Understanding that the war was on the verge of destroying both civilizations, and having a bend to the more peaceful beliefs of the monk-like Aqualarian Brotherhood (more so than the war mongering ideology of the conquesting Aqualarian Empire, and in shocking contrast to her profession), Caeda accepted the invitation of the human envoy (the great Paladin of Avalonia, Lord and in this instance undercover agent, Percival Ajax) to participate in the assassination of the Aqualarian Emperor, known to the human worlds as Emperor Tyrannos Atunis. Of note is that Caeda was a member of the Royal Court in Aqualarian society, but was already an assassin by trade (such positions being held in the highest of esteem in traditional Aqualarian culture). While she herself was progressive in her views, she was pragmatic enough to rely on the skillset she had spent her life honing, rather than on the passive hope for a more idealistic realization of her goals towards intergalactic peace. The assassination of Atunis was not without cost - to the Aqualarians and also to Caeda personally. Her husband was the Captain of the Imperial Guard, and was, not surprisingly, implicated in the plot to murder the Emperor. In the chaos that followed, he escaped, as did she, but he has sworn a death vow against his now former mate. His shame, both real (for the dishonor brought on by his wife) and alleged (even though he actually played no role in the assassination) have made him unstable mentally. He, like Vox, is also now a Rogue and a fugitive. His fury is not exhausted upon his mate alone, as her human political handlers (and eventual victors over his once proud empire) are equally to blame in his mind, if not more so, for the dishonorable act of turning his mate against her own kind. In the years following the end of the war, Vox Caeda went into hiding. Recently, upon learning that Lord Ajax had left his own King's service, she sought him out with a proposal, the terms of which Percy has not spoke of. However, she has been on board the Talon, and assisting with Percy's various missions ever since. ---- Recipe: SW Jarael head and arms MU Torso (modded) Resolute Baroness Legs (modded as bare uppers) The softgoods and belts were modded so much, they may as well be scratch-builds. ----

Another character. This one is more of a secondary character. Name is Casus the Tall. He is a legendary and seemingly ageless explorer. He has worked for each Kingdom at different points in his career, in charting the depths of space, exploring the Fringe Worlds, where it seems newly discovered habitable planets are found daily. And he also aids in the modification of uninhabitable worlds (what we would call Terra-forming).
Casus the Tall Recipe: MU AIM soldier body, dyed and painted. With boots from a Crimson Guard figure (don't ask why, I don't even remember what I was trying to accomplish there). Head is Ki Adi Mundi, modded, and with a SW pilot helmet, also modded and painted.

More from my new sci fi verse.
This figure started out life as part of my spare and recycled parts bin, but has become much more. I started to appreciate her more once I got her painted. But then, I asked Cap (From JoeCustoms, SDS and elsewhere) if he would work on this figure for me as well. I wanted tattoo work to be done, but gave complete artistic license as befitting an artist of Cap's stature. The tats, the jewelry, the staff, paint touch ups, and a professional finish - all by Cap - are what pulled this figure out of my spare parts brigade, and place her firmly within my top 10 favorite customs. Some background. The sci fi verse I'm going with has influences from all over the board. Some of the influences are fantasy influences, and I decided pretty early on that there would be some magical elements to this world because of it. This character is a mage/mystic. If she has a true homeworld, she does not know which it is. Most of her life has been spent traveling in caravans throughout space, mostly in the Fringe Worlds, as her clan continues to exploit one new colony after another, in the eternal search for wealth and power. This has led to her type being called Gypsies, though her own clan deems themselves to be more Druid than Gypsy. Her name is Pietra di Luna (Stone of the Moon), and in truth she was born on the mining colony on the moon of Earth itself. The women of her caravan, even while practicing the dark arts, seek both coin and credit via every means available. Yes, every means. So why is she relevant? Her psychic powers are immense, and are for hire... Pietra di Luna
