yep, thats me with the crimson guard rattler. i'm waiting for a price drop so i can make myself one. my son likes his so much i never get to play with it.
i'd like to make a flat black night attack rattler too. then maybe a brighter cobra blue rattler.

i've been thinking about it and i'm going to paint myself a crimson guard rattler since i barely get to play with the other one. anytime i pick it up my son lays claim to it. it's like he has toy radar or something.
i'm going to crack open the plane this time to get the main body painted properly this time. lets just hope i don't bust it in the process. what glue works well on this type of plastic? i want to make sure i get it back together and keep it together. is jb weld sufficient?

i just bought rattler and 2002 rattler stickers from cobra stickers for my planned 2nd crimson guard rattler.
i've also got some small changes i plan to make to make it different from my sons. i'm going to paint the leading edges of the wings flat black, the small nose area that is usually a sticker flat black. i also plan on adding tail numbers to mine.

It is nice to see a new generation of customizers being made. Tell your boys that they have done a great job. Keep up the good work.

i have an abundance of claw's that i will let my son paint red while i do my plane. since we have to wait so long for the actual red claw, we might as well make a couple of our own in the mean time.

i finally picked up another rattler for this project tonight. i had some paypal money so it turned out to work well.
thanks to another member, i managed to take the bottom belly panel off and seperate the wings from the chassis. this should allow me to paint the chassis/wings much easier. i also trimmed some of the plastic on the corners of the engine pods where it typically rubs on the chassis. i didn't do this on the first one and there are tiny paint chips as a result.

our kids spent the the day at thier cousins today so i got the entire day to complete my personal crimson guard rattler.
i managed to break this one down much farther than the last one the trick i learned from the last one is to shave a bit of plastic off at the wing rotation point to avoid paint chip when repainted. i decided to add more detail on my cg rattler and am rather proud of my ability to get this done without gross mistakes or paint bleed.

another choice i made which i'm not sold on yet was to paint the leading edge of the main wings flat black. i'm not liking it right now but hoping that once reassmebled it will look better. i also painted the large rocket type rockets a flat dark brown to better represent guided munitions. once the rocket sticker are applied it should look good.
here are all the painted pieces now to let them sit a week while i also wait for my new stickers from cobra stickers.

I think it looks good, and the canopy as well. I hope you like it more when it's reassembled.
