I call him Cobra Field Commander. I used a regular CC body, Viper lower legs and grenades, flash left hand and belt around right leg, crimson guard shoulder decorations. only the gold parts are painted with Tamiya gold. the body was turned green using RIT yellow dye, you can still make out the chest logo which is cool. comments welcome.

looks cool in green...just a thought, maybe use a troped head or Viper head to distance him from CC...the boots look good too...(thats a lot of double "O" words)

thanks for the nice words.
the medals were made from part of a viper vest I cut up for another custom I'm working on. I actually tried using a viper head but since I used dye and the viper plastic was darker than cobra commanders, I couldn't get the shade of green to match. I like to think of him as Cobra Commander out in the field, maybe a jungle, leading tanks into battle, somewhere that his bright blue outfit might stand out too much, but the battle armour would be impracticle. |

Yeah plain RIT dye.
Since I made him I've dyed 2 more. the liquid seems to work best, but the powder is good( just remember to bring it to a boil first then let it simmer while the parts are in. Do the hard plastic first as it takes longer to dye, when you get the color you want take it out and do the soft plastic (arms, legs, head) watch carefully because they soak it up quick. Be sure to keep the parts stirred in the pot because if they sit on the bottom to long they'll warp. The neat thing about doing this is you can get a good result and factory logos show through. |
