Very nice, he'd fit in perfect with Dusty and the rest of the crew on my Desert Cat.
I agree on the Navy colors, this custom Rampart is sick and I prefer the coloring on this version:

Thanks for all the feedback, guys!

Doh! I completely forgot about that until I looked back at the pics. (I've had him holding his rifle at low ready so it was covered up). I think I'll take Mandingo's suggestion and cut the webgear off at the shoulder straps to integrate it with the belt on his "skirt." Quote:

I had a hard time coming up with a color for the shemagh (or whatever it's called). There was already so much tan on the figure that I wanted something kind of colorful, but still subdued. I would have liked to paint some sort of checkered pattern with a light and dark color, but I knew that would was going to be beyond my skill level. Just curious what would you have done?
Maybe just match the kneepads, with a little bit of a darker dirt wash to pick up the crevices and pits? It's not awful as-is, it just wasn't quite right or something... You could even maybe go for a rust color? Or a gray-brown? |

Not sure, honestly... Although tans would fit better, it may, as you said, make him too monochromatic. I think maybe a darker green like what comes on Dusty would work, it's just the baby bluish color that throws me a little. (Granted, the original had a bright blue visor, so...)

Do you have a JoAnn's or similar cloth store nearby?
I found some mesh-like material for my Ambush, to look like netting, and they have plenty of other material there. Or, you can maybe check out dollar stores for nylon socks... As odd as it sounds, I've found some nylon tights or women's dress socks before that were almost the perfect color that I needed for "desert" fabric, and it was a fine enough weave that it looked right in the 1:18 scale. You may feel a little awkward buying that, but it's a solution to replacing that fine of material. Usually dollar stores or Big Lots will carry them in the sock section. You don't want anything with spandex in it though, or it'll curl. /awkward customizer tips |
