This is my first attempt at a conversion. I never had the vamp, and haven't been willing to shell out collector bucks at this point, but I wanted a similar vehicle for my Joes when I hand them down to my boy.
Started with the Captain America Shield Assault vehicle. Went with desert sand (probably lighter than I wanted in the end. Was going to do the roll bars in brown, but decided it was starting to look like a spoiling banana. Went ahead and switched to Gunmetal Gray, and ta-da a 3-man vehicle for my old joes. |

Still dont like the vehicle at all and the paint you used is a little too light IMO but good first attempt!

Thanks all for the feedback!
Paint used for main body was Model Master "Modern Desert Sand". I think I would have preferred something just a little less yellow and a little more brown. The gun is actually the stock gun that came with this version of the captain america 4x4. There's another version with a missile launcher I've seen on-line, but walmart had this one. I had been thinking of switching out for a mini-gun or SAW, but after painting the stock turret and putting the Bravo Team marines on it, I decided it looked just fine. I'm going to be reading more on weathering techniques and will post an update when I get a chance to take that on. I was able to save the decals for the interior controls (didn't come out well in the 3rd pic) but I'm at a loss for where to get more. I entertained the thought of adding lights but I'm pretty sure I don't have the time for it right now. Eventually though. I also think I'm going to use Gunmetal gray for a cobra SUV conversion I'm thinking of rather than black. It has that slight blue tint that some of the original vehicles had. Thanks again for the feedback, hope to have more to share later. |
