I got these computer cases a while back and decided to paint them. Used Krylon plastic paint and the Cobra case is finished. The GI Joe case is in progress... I'm psyched how it came out.

So, this is how I did it...
First, I taped up all the edges with painter's tape, very carefully trimming with a blade. Then I painted the whole case black. Then I found a large cobra logo online. I wanted the logo larger than 8.5 by 11 so I split the image into 2 halves. Then I printed each side out in business card stock and taped the sides together. I cut out where the red parts are and made a stencil. I taped it to the box and spray painted it. But the paint bled a bit because the edges lifted a bit. So instead, I put overlapping rows of painter's tape right on the case. then I laid the stencil over it and traced it. Then I took a very sharp blade and cut out the red areas very carefully. Then I covered the rest of the box around the stencil with newspaper and tape so no red paint would get anywhere else. Gave it about 5 coats of red and after it dried, I removed the paper and tape. The case is about a 30 inch cube and the joe one is a few inches smaller. |
