Here's a kitbash/custom action figure. It's my take on the Action Force SAS Attack Trooper:
I ended up conflating the designs of two SAS-themed Action Force figures, 1982's SAS, and 1983's SAS Attack Trooper, since I figure they're supposed to represent the same "army builder" type of character. The head is one piece (the gas mask and helmet aren't removable), because I wanted everything to fit flush and look in scale (making the gas mask removable would have necessitated a larger, out-of-scale helmet, and there would be too many gaps where light would shine through in photography), like what Hasbro did with their recent PoC Dusty figure. Here's the list of the GI Joe figures from which I took parts for anyone interested in replicating the figure:

And here's the card art and filecard (click to enlarge):
I tried to keep the spirit of the 1983 SAS Attack Trooper filecard, whilst adding real-world detail (the 1982 SAS figure didn't come with a filecard, AFAIK). I'd like to think I hit upon a good balance of faithfulness to the core concepts and "Tom Clancy-esque" plausibility. Last edited by zuludelta; 06-20-2011 at 01:30 PM.. Reason: fixed links |

Here are close-ups of the standard head and the alternative "unmasked head":

Nice job man. I think the original was the first AF figure I got and the SAS team was my favourite.
I'd like to see the alternative head have the ribbed balaclava style instead of the smooth ninja style. |

I'll probably replace the unmasked head at some point with a ribbed balaclava head like you mentioned Sector_15, soon as I come across a spare one. As it is, it's more of an afterthought than anything. |
