I use the general acrylics that you would find at Walmart or Micheals. I thin the paint out with water to give it a smoother look and less chunky layered look like most acrylics give. I have used acrylic thinner which is nothing more than liquid soap. It works really well and allows all the original detail to come through. Just requires a few coats to completely cover the figures well.
