I've decided to make POC-like versions of the original 13 joes--still my favorite characters--as a long-term project. I really like the detail and articulation on these newer figures, especially Snake Eyes, which makes a great base for the rest of the founding members. I was undecided on this project until I saw that we're getting Stalker as well. I know I run the risk of some of the rest being released, but I'm willing to chance it. Plus, it will take me a while to get all of them done, so maybe we'll see what else is coming before I get too far.
First up is Grunt. He's fairly straight-forward, using all the parts from POC Snake Eyes except the head and helmet (from Dusty), and the backpack (ROC Desert Duke?). I made the paint job more detailed than I usually do, so that it fits more with the POC aesthetic.

I love this!
My own preference would have been to skip all that brown leather, because it isn't used by the military anymore. However, I understand that the reason you used it was in keeping with the color scheme of the classic Grunt figure. The overall look is fantastic. Dude, he looks great! I wouldn't worry about getting rid of the brown. The green and brown compliment one another regardless of whether the military currently uses it or not.

Those straps look a little out of place. I'd snip them off.
